The first two shows of the third season at the Cole Auditorium are ready to go.

“We are really excited to be able to offer some great values for entertainment

for our local patrons,” said Cole Auditorium and Community Center Director Joey Bennet said. “It is wonderful that we are able to offer these top rated, traveling performances locally. We are trying to offer a wide variety of programs to entertain our audiences.”

First, “Max & Ruby” is slated to kick the season off with a matinee and evening showing April 4.

It is a comedic musical based on the children’s program that shows of Nick Jr. and Noggin broadcast channels.

“Max & Ruby” features music and lyrics by Carol Hall, and is based on the book by Glen Berger, about two bunny siblings who want to put on a play for their grandmother.

The play is a Theatreworks U.S.A production, and is recommended for all ages three and up.

Tickets for this show are currently on sale. One child 12 or under will be admitted to the show free with one paying adult. An adult ticket, or ticket for additional children, is $10.

This performance will be followed up by “An American Portrait,” a concert slated for Thursday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m.

This concert, headlined by pianist Mac Frampton and featuring vocalists Sam Hagan and Dawn Marie, celebrates two centuries of American milestones as our country’s story is told through the songs that united and inspired its people.

It is described as “a stirring, evocative homage to our homeland in a press release by the Cole Auditorium.

The three will be backed by a live rhythm section of percussion and bass, and will perform songs such as “America the Beautiful,” “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “God Bless America” and “God Bless the U.S.A.”

It also features “New York, New York,” “The Yellow Rose of Texas,” “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” and others.

Tickets for this concert are on sale now, and cost $15 each.

Tickets for these and other shows and events at the Cole Auditorium can be purchased by calling the box office at (910) 410-1691, or by visiting the box office in person, on the campus of Richmond Community College. Cash, checks, Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
