Ronald “Ronnie” Smith, 62, of Rockingham, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Morrison Manor, Laurinburg.

He was born August 26, 1949 in Chesterfield, S.C., the son of Jessie W. and Ruby Griggs Smith. Ronnie worked at Perdue until his retirement.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Childers and Pastor Calvin Bean officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chesterfield, S.C.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Griggs Smith, and his grandmother, Ola Perdue Griggs Morse.

Surviving is the love of his life, Barbara Webb of the home; father, Jessie W. Smith of Chesterfield, S.C.; a sister, Sylvia Joan Smith of Chesterfield S.C.; and many nieces and nephews who were his pride and joy.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church.
