It’s hard to miss the new business that opened its doors on Hamlet Avenue last Saturday, with the pink and white striped awning that hints at the girly shop inside.

Razzle Dazzle Boutique, located at 32 W. Hamlet Ave. in Hamlet, beside Ace Hardware, offers an array of accessories for fashion-minded ladies.

Krystal Edwards said she helped her husband at his store, Edwards IGA, for years before finally deciding to take a risk and open the kind of store she’s always dreamed of.

“I go out of town, and I see stores I love and always wish we had something like that here,” said the Hamlet native. “I love this kind of stuff, and hated that I always had to go somewhere else to find it.”

“This kind of stuff” includes an array of purses and bags of all sizes, summer hats, uber-girly baby clothes, tutus and booties, baskets, jewelry, mugs, T-shirts, glammed-out wine glasses and items sporting college colors and emblems.

She does monogramming for the bags, and will even turn the order around same day.

“Customer service is something I learned a lot about while working for my husband,” she said. “He always goes out of his way to make his customers happy, and I saw that it really matters to customers. So, I’m carrying that over to my business. I’m always going to be willing to go the extra mile.”

She cited an example of a customer who came in looking for a specific type of candle.

“I have those candles in my house too, but I can only find them out of town,” she said. “Now that I know other people here are interested in that product, I’m thinking that’s something I should add to my inventory. Listening to what people want is important.”

Edwards said that she was nervous about opening the business, but her husband encouraged her to pursue it.

“There were times when I was ready to throw up my hands, but he really helped me through this,” she said.

Having lived in Hamlet all her life, Edwards said she was excited to find the location on Hamlet Avenue.

“I like the character of downtown Hamlet,” she said. “And I think that a lot of people will support a business if you take a chance and open one here.”

So far, her biggest selling items have been necklaces with pendants that allow customers to create their own designs, and the fashion jewelry from the rows of cases in the back of the store.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, call the store at 910-582-9977.

Sorry to get your turkey feathers all in a wad "gobblegobble", lol. I just pointed out the fact that there are other stores in Richmond County besides hers. She made such a big deal to throw the other small bussiness owners under the bus I felt bad for them. FYI the store beside Belk has Mudd Pie baby clothes. And the store beside Firestone has all those T shirts she has. And an embroidery place on Hwy 1 has all those bags, totes, hats and what nots a lot cheaper than she does.

Geez ppl grow up seriously!! So go ahead and comment on that bc I won't be or better yet make a fake account under a different name maybe "yumyum" lol :) You have a good day!

First of all I would like to say that these seem to be two totally different people. As you can see ones name is Leigh and if you would click on the other ones name hers is Brandy. Unlike you you have not created a profile so we do not know who we are speaking to which makes it very easy for you to say what you would like to and hide behind your computer!

Second of all why dis-credit these ladies everytime someone says something nice. Whatever happened to the old saying "IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY THAN DO NOT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL" It seems that you only have one goal in mind and that is to praise the other shops in this county and bad mouth the new shop "RAZZLE DAZZLE". All that the owner "Krystal Edwards" was trying to say in her article was being able to go somewere locally and find it all under one roof, but to your credit, I believe i could sit here all day and try to explain what she was saying and that to you it really would not matter. Maybe she just wanted to be a little competitive or maybe she was just speaking from the heart, but the bottom line is, in no way shape or form was she trying to throw anybody else under the bus. Just like I, Rusty Edwards, owner of Edwards IGA, we both wish the very best for any and all business in Richmond County, rather it be a grocery store or a girly girl shop. So all I am asking is please give Krystal a break, maybe even give her a fighting chance, but if your not, at least do not commit anymore when someone says something nice about her store. Thanks again and I hope everybody has a WONDERFUL DAY!!!

Well, well, well. Mr. Edwards. You have just admitted to knowing the other two subscribers and not I. That my freind is what bothers you the most. I don't know you, your wife, your friend Brandy, nor your friend Leigh, nor do I or will I ever shop at the IGA.

With that being said. I did not bad mouth any store any Richmond County. I simply pointed out the fact that she is not the other store that has girly things. She was quoted in the DJ saying so. Saying she has to go out of town to find these things. I don't know where all your inner anger is coming from, but chill out. Stomping your feet and pounding your chest, Like "Look world hear me roar" Geez. It's not worth all that buddy. Calm down.

I wish your wife the best of luck. It takes allot of gut, sweat and good credit to go out on a limb and start a new bussiness. But to tell you the truth you got me a little scare to come in her store, with ya cave like mannerisms. And I'm just an old lad, but I have picked up that using the "Caps Lock" make letters all capitilzed. So I guess that means you are yelling? Not sure, but thats my guess.

I'm signing off now. Top of the day to ya Lad!

Rusty, your family's business has withstood the test of time due to the way customers are treated when they come to IGA. Lots of memories shopping there when I was younger with my parents. The "little man" surviving these days in an economy against the likes of Wal-mart is a testament in itself. Local citizens of Richmond County should support businesses like yours and your wife's and be proud. Good luck to both of you. My name is Dwain Bryant, along with my family we will continue to shop at your business and others alike.

I'm so happy there is finally a boutique in Richmond county that sells boutique type toddler clothes. Yeah there may be 3 gift ships but they all 3 sell different things. I have went out of Richmond county to get the things that are sold here. So happy we can shop locally. Us moms needed a store like this. I have visited Razzle Dazzle Boutique and they sell Mud Pie brand toddler clothes. It's hard to find a place that sells them and has the prices she does. Very pleased customer.

The Hamlet downtown area is a great place to shop. I work in R'ham but I live in Hamlet so I prefer to shop in Hamlet if at all possible. I have been in a number a shops like Mrs. Edwards in R'ham and they are all offer a variety of items but like I said before it's nice to know I can shop locally.

Since when is Rockingham out of town???

This owner quoted " I go out of town, and I see stores I love, and always wish we had something like that here." "I love this kind of stuff and hate that I had to go somewhere else to find it" END QUOTE.

Newflash, there are 3 gift stores in Rockingham that have very girly gifts. Just making other readers aware she is not the only gift store in Richmond County! Maybe in Hamlet and yeah, good luck with that.

May I ask you have you been in all 3 of the stores that sell Gorky things? They all sell different things. The last time I went in the store beside JCPenny, all there was were flags and some jewelry. I don't see where anything is alike in those 2 stores. And why do you care anyways? Support Eichmobd county businesses. We all should. Be glad we do have people willing to open up businesses in Richmond county. Hamlet has needed something for awhile. I don't see where Mrs. Edwards won't do good, much less the other 2 stores either. They all 3 sell different stuff anyways.

Isn't there a store in the JC Penny shopping center that has all these things too? She isn't the only store owner with girly gifts.
