Stores in downtown Hamlet saw a jump in foot traffic on Saturday, at the first sidewalk sale event the area has hosted.
“I was thrilled to see it so very busy, with cars lining the street,” said Hamlet Historic Depot and Museum manager and downtown coordinator Miranda Chavis. “There were wonderful sales, and it was also a great fund-raising event for the Hamlet Depot Museums.”
Chavis said 14 to 18 business in the downtown area participated in the sale.
“I’ve gotten really good feedback from businesses,” she said. “We haven’t yet had a chance to discuss planning another one, but the experience was positive so I look forward to the possibility.”
