Silas Henry Quick, 69, of Rockingham, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will see friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Mr. Quick was born Nov. 9, 1942, in Richmond County, a son of the late Silas I. and Alma Grant Quick. He was a graduate of Rockingham High School, attended New Hope Free Will Baptist Church and had worked as a supervisor with TNS Mills and Richmond Yarn prior to his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kathy Quick; and a sister, Elaine Q. Vuncannon.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Cooke Quick of the home; daughters, Susan Q. Martinez, Lori Q. Warren, Janet Q. Hall, Lynda Quick and Betsy Q. Locklear, all of Rockingham; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marsha Q. Brown of Athens, Ga.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.

Mr.Silas was a good strong man and I know he loved his family.. I offer my condolences.

I loved going over to hang out with Betsy and Kathy..
