Michael Sibley, 33, of 237 Eastside Drive, Apt. A, Rockingham was arrested on outstanding charges from Florida after he overturned a dump truck on U.S. 74 Wednesday morning, according to police.

The accident occurred near the Anson-Union County line, Anson County Sheriff Tommy Allen said, and backed up traffic for hours.

According to the N.C. Highway Patrol report, Sibley was traveling west on U.S. 74 when he traveled into the median and then re-entered the roadway. He then traveled into the median again, and upon entering the roadway again, the vehicle overturned and came to rest on its left side in the westbound travel lanes, the report said.

Sheriff Allen said that after the officer on the scene ran Sibley’s information, it was found that he was wanted on several charges in Florida. He was arrested on charges of grand theft, dealing in stolen property and false ownership of a pawn item, lawmen said.

As of Friday, Sibley was in the Anson County Jail under a $20,000 bond, awaiting word on whether or not he would be extradited to Florida.
