The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce 2012 Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for new directors to serve three-year terms.

The committee will meet Aug. 23 to review suggested nominees for Chamber director positions.

Five directors will be retiring as of Dec. 31, and new directors are needed to fill the positions.

Current directors leaving their positions are: Robert Voorhees, of E&C Properties; Michelle Parrish, of United Way of Richmond County; Hettie Davis, of Slip Management; Jeff Smart, of Mabry’s Drug; and Willa Spivey, Fidelity Bank.

“We’re encouraging Chamber members to nominate themselves or other Chamber members to fill these positions,” said Chamber President Emily Tucker. “We want Chamber members throughout the county to be considered, as we would like to continue to have a diverse group of directors from various industries.”

Those currently serving on the board of directors are: Terry Greene, JC Penney; John Jackson, FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital; Malcolm McLester, Elite Designer Homes; T.C. Hall, Merrill Lynch; Robert Voorhees, E & C Properties; Hettie Davis, McDonald’s; Jeff Smart, Mabry’s Drug Store; Willa Spivey, Fidelity Bank; Michelle Parrish, United Way; Jim McCaskill, Pineview Court; Karen Margolis, Fatz Café; Jody Williamson, Progress Energy; Evans Sheppard, Perdue, Inc.; Jeff Dieffenbach, Dieffenbach Chevrolet; Brian Baucom, BB&T; David Knight, Hamlet Rescue & EMS; Rick Sago, Richmond County Office of Development; George Norris, Richmond County Schools; Dale McInnis, Richmond Community College; Emily Tucker, Richmond County Chamber of Commerce president; Kristie Long, Richmond County Chamber of Commerce executive assistant.

“We’re looking for people who have a genuine interest in promoting Richmond County, and growing businesses,” said Chamber Chair Terry Greene. “We’re looking forward to seeing some great candidates.”
