ORGANIC GARDENING: NC Cooperative Extension offering 3-session workshop on Organic Vegetable Gardening for the Homeowner. If you are interested in growing your own food but aren’t sure how, this workshop is for you. Growing organically can reduce your exposure to pesticides and be less expensive than using costly fertilizers and chemicals. The knowledge to get you started will be provided. FARM SURVEY: Register by Feb. 19 for a Farmland Preservation Meeting to be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Richmond County Cooperative Extension Office, Caroline Street, Rockingham. It is to discuss surveys being taken to set up Farmland Preservation and Voluntary Agricultural Districts.

Cooperative Extension offering fruit tree pruning workshop Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10-11:30 a.m. On site in small orchard, will discuss proper pruning methods applicable to various types of fruit trees and have the opportunity to do some pruning on apple trees.
