Katina “Tina” Harden Blakley, 64, of Rockingham, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Tina was born October 12, 1947 in Greensboro, NC, a daughter of the late Calvin Thomas and Hilda Gray Harden. She attended Roberdel Baptist Church and for many years has worked with Creative Hair Design in Rockingham. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Blakley and a brother, Gordon Harden.

Surviving are her son, Chad Blakley of Rockingham; daughter, Alanna Young and husband Donavan of Rockingham; grandchildren, Lydia and Piper Young; brother, Rodney Harden of Greensboro; sister, Ann Cockrell and husband Norman of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Shirley Harden of Greensboro and special family friend, Larry Bailey of Reidsville.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Friday at Roberdel Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.

The family will see friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the home on E. Washington St. Ext.

Tina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. The sheer presence of her earthly being brightened up every room. If you were to ask her what her best accomplishments were, she would tell you her children. She doted on her children and grandchildren like no mother or grandmother ever has. In the past weeks she has been described by friends as a Saint and an Angel. To know Tina, or TT as those close to her called her, was to love her. It’s hard to imagine the amount of tears that have been and will be shed because this sweet human being has left us to be with our Lord.

Tina was such a devoted Christian and believed in the power and grace of our Lord. Her strong faith in Christ has comforted our family during this most emotional time. Our family would like to give a special thank you to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, particularly the wonderful staff at CVT, ISU, & Waldrip ICU. We could never repay those beautiful people for the love and compassion they shared with Tina and our family.

Memorials may be made to Cordova School ( formerly Roberdel Childrens Center), 194 Church St., Cordova, NC 28330 or to The Ridge Community Church, P.O. Box 663, Stuart, VA 24171

Condolences may be made online at www.carterfuneral.net.

Tina was the one person that every time I saw her, she was smiling. She was devoted to her family and spoke of them always. She was more than someone who did my hair, she was my friend. She will truly be missed here on Earth but I know she is rejoicing in Heaven. I love you Tina and will miss you always.
