Nelson Coppage Terry Jr., 59, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012, at UNC Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Peter United Methodist Church in Hamlet with the Rev. Angelo Troy officiating. Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Public viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Service of Hamlet.

Mr. Terry was born March 3, 1953, to Dianne Campbell Terry and the late Nelson Coppage Terry Sr. He graduated from Hamlet High School and worked at Waste Management. He was also a member of Pemberton Temple COGIC.

He is survived by his mother; his wife, Danford H. Terry of the home; four sons, Tyree Diggs of Greensboro, Marlon Diggs of Greensboro, Nicholas Terry and Christopher Terry; a daughter, Sibyl R. Smith of Hamlet; a brother, Maurice Lyn Terry of Kentucky; four sisters, Sally Terry, Sharry Terry, Patricia Terry of Washington, D.C., and Anner Terry Mock of Maryland; eight grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

Nelson Funeral Service of Hamlet is assisting the family.
