The appropriate approach to planning

Dear Editor,

A vision for 2020 seems like too far into the future to be concerned about today in our world of instant gratification.

But many of our positive situations today were planned some eight years or more before.

Highways, water and sewer projects, Richmond Community College expansion, development of industrial parks and new public school construction were all items of interest to county commissioners planned years ago.

Many of today’s commissioners were involved in this planning and are well aware of the need to prepare the county for future generations.

The Richmond County Economic Development Team with its Vision 2020 - A Strategic Plan for Richmond County is now taking a business-like approach to overall planning.

Since this has been the county’s approach to development and progress for many years, it sounds like the appropriate approach to planning.

County Chairman Kenneth Robinette said, “If you don’t have a plan, you’re not going to survive.” As a member also of a regional planning organization, he speaks with first-hand knowledge about the need for forward thinking.

Dear friends-Men make their plans and people say the world can end right now, today or tomorrow. The scriptures seem to teach that when new life comes upon a tree (The bud which finally produces the fruit) taht this generation will not pass away until all has been fulfilled.Did Yis'RAEL begin to bud in 1948.Thats about 64 years ago and he gave me a life span of 70 years.Yes,I know, the world is not going to end in my life time, thats what ever generation has said.Who decides when this will happen. He has a name, find out what it is.After all ,preachers say it can happen today,so what happens to the best laid plans of mice and men?In our world today I have to wonder which one has the most sence, them or us.
