Elimination day: Southwest Randolph stays alive

ROCKINGHAM — It was elimination day at the Pony League’s Bronco Division Piedmont Section at Civitans Park Wednesday.

Archdale opened the third day of competition with an 11-1 victory over Asheboro. In the second game of the day, Southwest Randolph stayed alive with a 15-0 win over Anson County. Asheboro and Anson County were eliminated from the tournament with the losses.

In the final contest of the night, Southwest Randolph knocked off Archdale 13-2. Archdale was eliminated, while Southwest Randolph will await the loser from today’s first game between Garner and Rockingham, which is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.

The victor of today’s Garner-Rockingham matchup will stand one win away from advancing to next week’s regional tournament in Charlotte.
