Brenna Maeghan Burr and Robert Louis Hunter III (Luke), both of Rockingham, were united in marriage on June 16, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church in Rockingham. The bride’s grandfather, Rev. Russell Edwards, officiated.

The couple were united in marriage at the same church that the bride’s parents were married in 30 years ago on the same weekend.

Maeghan is the daughter of Mark and Brenda Burr of Rockingham. She is the granddaughter of Russell and Nancy Edwards of Rockingham, and the late Eddie and Juanita Burr, also of Rockingham.

The bride graduated from Campbell University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She is currently employed with Scotland County Schools as a ninth grade English teacher at Scotland High School.

Luke is the son of Robert and Denise Hunter of Wadesboro. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunter, Sr. of Wallace, Mrs. Christine Rich, also of Wallace, and the late Pat Rich, of Wallace.

The groom graduated from Campbell University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in PGA Golf Management. He is currently employed with Talamore Golf Resort in Pinehurst as an assistant golf professional.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father.

She wore a strapless gown of ivory silk organza. The full A-line gown featured a sweetheart neckline and buttoned up the back. Delicate beaded lace adorned the bodice and skirt that continued into a chapel length train. The 2 tier elbow-length veil had a scalloped and beaded edge that matched the beading on the dress. Her bouquet was made up of lavender and wisteria roses.

Shannon Mabe of Ellerbe, cousin of the bride, served as matron of honor; she wore a plum floor-length gown. Bridesmaids included Jeanna Cloninger of Rockingham, cousin of the bride; Brittany Royster of Chapel Hill, sister of the groom; Anne Park of Laurinburg; and Kelli Ussery of Raleigh. The bridesmaids wore wisteria gowns identical to the matron of honor’s gown. They each carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas.

The groom chose his father as best man. Groomsmen included Colton Burr, brother of the bride of Pensacola, Fla.; Jared Garbett of Wallace; Derek Easter of Dunn; and Steven Royster of Chapel Hill. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos with silver vests and ties.

The ring bearer was Ashton Dean Mabe of Ellerbe, cousin of the bride. He wore a tuxedo identical to the groomsmen.

Music for the ceremony was provided by pianist, Rich Holder of Goldsboro. Vocalists were Blake Holder and Rochelle York, also of Goldsboro. They sang “You Had Me From Hello” by Kenny Chesney, “Only God Could Love You More” by Kelly Nelon Thompson, and “At Last” by Etta James.

Program attendants were Evan Rushing of Rockingham, Ayden Mabe of Ellerbe, and Jaxon Mabe of Ellerbe. They are all cousins of the bride. They dressed similar to the groomsmen.

Presiding over the guest registry was Jessica Partin Stedman of Rockingham.

Tim Edwards of Fayetteville, uncle of the bride, directed the wedding.

The reception was held at Liberty Place in Rockingham. Guests enjoyed dinner and dancing. The couple shared their first dance to the song “She’s Everything” by Brad Paisley.

After the reception, the couple spent their first evening in their new home in Rockingham. After church the next morning, the couple left for a week-long trip to the mountains of North Carolina.
