MAY 21

RICHMOND COUNTY SCAM JAM is a free event that will be held at Richmond Community College, Cole Auditorium, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21. Learn how to protect yourself, your assets and your personal information from various scams. Presentations by AARP, Attorney General’s Office, N.C. Senior Medicare Patrol Program, N.C. Secretary of State’s Office and your local Sheriff’s’s office. A shred truck will also be on-site to safely dispose of your personal information. Lunch will be provided, to register call Lumber River Council of Governments at 1-866-582-4251.

THE RED CROSS BLOODMOBILE will be at the Hamlet Depot & Museums on Tuesday, May 21, from 3 to 7:30 p.m. All donors will be entered for a chance to win a gift card. Call Tommy at 910-331-1739 to schedule an appointment today.

HAMLET ROTARY CLUB BLOOD DRIVE will be held from 3 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at the Hamlet Depot and Museum. Support the Rotary Club’s first blood drive. To schedule an appointment contact Tommy Halyburton 910-331-1739 or Miranda Chavis at 910-410-7791. Donors should eat iron rich foods for two weeks and drink plenty of water before donating.

HAMLET AMERICAN LEGION POST 49 will meet at 7:30 at the Post home on Boyd Lake Road. Officers for the coming year will be elected.

THE HAMLET HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1959 will gather at Shoney’s Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, for a time of fellowship. All are asked to contact others.

RICHMOND RED HATS will have lunch 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at Pizza Inn, Rockingham.

MASONIC MEETING Stated Communication will be Thursday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m., at Hamlet Masonic Lodge No. 532 A.F & A.M., 307 Main Street, Hamlet.

RICHMOND COUNTY SENIOR DEMOCRATS will meet at the Democratic Party office in the Long Building on Thursday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and 6 p.m. for informational business meeting. Ring for elevator and help will be provided. All Democrats invited.

MAY 24

HOT DOG SALE will be held at the Richmond Plaza Shopping Center (J.C. Penney) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 24. The cost will be $5 per plate. Plate includes two hot dogs with all the trimmings, bag of chips and drink. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the United Way of Richmond County.

MONTHLY BREAKFAST will be held by Hamlet First United Methodist on Saturday, May 25, from 7 to 10 a.m. at $5 per plate. Takeouts available. Two meats, eggs, grits, biscuit, gravy, coffee and juice. Easy parking.

RICHMOND COUNTY MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM will be held at the Veterans Park on Caroline Street across from the VFW Post 4203, 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25. Lacy Sheppard, past state commander of Am-Vets, will be the speaker.

LEAK STREET ALUMNI CHAPTER will meet 6 p.m. on Monday, May 27, at the Leak Street Educational and Cultural Center in Rockingham.

RSHS SENIOR BOARDS NIGHT - Richmond Senior High School will hold its biannual Senior Boards Night on Thursday, May 30. If you are interested in being a panelist for five students during the event, contact Tonjua Chapman at 997-9812.

SENIOR SPEED DATING EVENT will be held at the Leath Memorial Library, Rockingham, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, All single seniors, 55 and older, are invited to join in for a fun night of speed dating at the library. TOWN HALL MEETING will be held at the Hoffman Parks and Recreation Complex, 106 Thompson St., Hoffman, on June 6, starting 7:30 p.m. Learn what our representatives are saying about legislative issues, current laws, and the budget. JUNE 7

CIVITAN BREAKFAST will be at FATZ, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1. Proceeds go to charities and organizations. All you can eat pancakes, sausage, fruit, orange juice for $7.

JUNE 8

PANCAKE BREAKFAST will be sponsored by the East Rockingham United Methodist Church Men’s Club from 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, in the church fellowship hall. The charge is $4 for all you can eat. A sweets and crafts sale will be held at the same time.

4-H SUMMER FUN REGISTRATION is being held in the 4-H Office located at 123 Caroline Street, Suite 100, Rockingham. Registration will be received until all classes are filled. For More information contact the 4-H Office at 997-8255.
