MAY 18

KID’S DAY will be held at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 18. Free events, games and screenings including child identification cards. Wellness blood profile for children ages 9 through 17, for a fee of $25, no food or drink after midnight is recommended. Gycosylated Hemoglobin/A1C for $10 for long-term glucose control for diabetic children. Bike helmets for $5.

REUNION COMMITTEE MEETING for Legg’s, Sara Lee, Sandhurst, Aleo and Safie will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at the Leath Memorial Library in Rockingham. Anyone that has worked at one of the above mentioned is encouraged to attend. Names, postal or email addresses are still needed. BUFFET BREAKFAST will be held Saturday, May 18, from 6:30 to 10 a.m., at Cameronian Presbyterian Church, 179 Northam Road, Rockingham. All you can eat for $5. The public is invited.

DEMOCRATIC BREAKFAST AT FATZ will be held by the Richmond County Democrats 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18. MAY 19

RICHMOND COUNTY ANIMAL ADVOCATES will be hosting our first annual Mutt Strut Pet Festival at Hinson Lake on May 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be a $10 entry fee to walk your pet. There will be food vendors, pet related items and a $15 microchip clinic. All proceeds will go to RCAA to help save more animals in our county. MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE will be held Sunday, May 19th at 4 p.m., at Exway Baptist Church, 2119 County Line Road, Mt. Gilead, to honor and thank those who have defended our nation and the freedoms that we enjoy. This will be an outdoor event if weather permits. Bring your lawn chairs.

“REMEMBERING DERBY” with the Bennett Brothers at the Derby Store will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 19. Attend and learn some of the history of the northern end of the county.

RICHMOND COUNTY RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL will meet 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, at Sandhills Regional Medical Center. Norma King from Horace Mann Insurance Company will be guest speaker. Members are urged to attend and learn how they might benefit.

THE ROCKINGHAM MASONIC LODGE #495 AF & AM will have the stated communication starting 7:30 p.m., a meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. provided by the Eastern Star, to be Chicken Pot Pie, etc. All members are urged to attend. 1105 Fayetteville Road, Rockingham.

RICHMOND COUNTY SCAM JAM is a free event that will be held at Richmond Community College, Cole Auditorium, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21. Learn how to protect yourself, your assets and your personal information from various scams. Presentations by AARP, Attorney General’s Office, N.C. Senior Medicare Patrol Program, N.C. Secretary of State’s Office and your local Sheriff’s’s office. A shred truck will also be on-site to safely dispose of your personal information. THE RED CROSS BLOODMOBILE will be at the Hamlet Depot & Museums on Tuesday, May 21, from 3 to 7:30 p.m. All donors will be entered for a chance to win a gift card. Call Tommy at 910-331-1739 to schedule an appointment today.

HAMLET ROTARY CLUB BLOOD DRIVE will be held from 3 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at the Hamlet Depot and Museum. Support the Rotary Club’s first blood drive. RICHMOND COUNTY SENIOR DEMOCRATS will meet at the Democratic Party office in the Long Building on Thursday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and 6 p.m. for informational business meeting. Ring for elevator and help will be provided. All Democrats invited.

MAY 24

HOT DOG SALE will be held at the Richmond Plaza Shopping Center (J.C. Penney) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 24. The cost will be $5 per plate. Plate includes two hot dogs with all the trimmings, bag of chips and drink. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the United Way of Richmond County.
