Gary Allen Smith, 75, of 207 Richardson Road, Ellerbe died Friday, June 26 , 2012 at his home.
Gary was born January 30, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of C. Clem and Hessie Baucom Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Harford and Haines Smith and a sister, Wanda Smith, and wives Margaret Peggy Smith and Frances Kay Taylor Smith. Gary had a great love of the outdoors and animal. He used his talents and labor on mission work in Suriname and Guatemala.
He is survived by a son, Anthony “Tony” Smith of Bradenton, FL, a daughter, Tammy Smith also of FL, sisters; Wilma Sweet of Ellerbe and Irma Appleton of FL, and three grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held 10:00 am, Saturday July 7, 2012 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Ellerbe conducted by Rev. Elizabeth Polk. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the services.
