Dear Fellow Countrymen-Lets not be to critical of Mr.Good-man,after all he is not the only one in Richmond County who has trouble thinking clearly concerning numbers.I really think he wants to save the lives of innocent people.So to help him do this I suggest our righteous goverment of which he is a part,paid by our hard earned money by sweating all day do the following.Number one,take away the Docters permit to kill innocent babies in the womb and abolish the tools that help then do this terrible act in spilling innocent blood,that will save one and one half million innocent lives each year. The Messiah told Peter to put up the sword,he did not say that he had to give it up.The ORIGINAL Father and our AMERICAN fathers gave us the right to bear arms without a permit.Some people cannot count or read,that makes one as smart as a two year old.Also take up the alcohol permits,thats #2.Number three is to stop permiting drug dealers to sell drugs,drugs kill thousands ever year,elimination of the dealer will stop us from issuing him a permit.Dont permit anyone to produce anything that could be used as a weapon to kill anyone.Good bye airplane,cars and trucks,trains,etc.Now folks you know as well as I do that when someone wants to kill someone they will do it ,regardless of the weapon.What did people use before the gun was invented?The only thing that will stop the killing is to train your child its wrong to kill and set the example,stop abortion first.Its a bad example and politicians know this but we put them in office and they write stupid letters.Halleluyah.

According to the sources available, one can find that there were 52,447 intentional and 23,237 accidental non-fatal gunshot injuries in the United States in the year of 2000. In the year 2007 fatal gunshots amounted to 55.6% were suicides, and of the 31,224 gunshot deaths, 12,632 or 40.5% were homicide. If one looks at the Law Enforcement and Private Citizens Killed by Concealed Handgun Permit Holders: An Analysis of News Reports, May 2007 to April 200,a report compiled by the Violence Policy Center, they make three clear points over a two year period in an effort against concealed carry:

1. Over the two-year period May 2007 through April 2009, concealed handgun permit holders have slain seven law enforcement officers resulting in criminal charges or the suicide of the shooter. All of the killings were committed with guns. An additional three law enforcement officers were injured in these incidents.

2. Over the two-year period May 2007 through April 2009, concealed handgun permit holders have slain at least 43 private citizens resulting in criminal charges or the suicide of the shooter. All but one of the killings were committed with guns. An additional six private citizens were injured in these incidents.

3. In six of the 30 incidents (20 percent), the concealed handgun permit holder killed himself, bringing the total fatality count to 56.

You do the math on these percentages. In the tens or in the tens of thousands. Looks to me like the concealed carriers have killed a lot less people.

Check the most recent Department of Justice statistics on violent crime in this country. Over the last five years, it has been decreasing (possibly in part due to more and more states passing concealed carry laws). Mr. Goodman is one of many that skews statistics, manipulates data and many times, outright deceives for political gain (and this is a liberal stating his opinion about Mr. Goodman's comment).

I agree with Robert,I got my permit through him and he is a good instructor and knows what he's doing and talking about.When you take his class he teaches you the right and wrong to handle a gun.Does Mr Goodman have guns and a permit most likely has guns that RW left him.Hes just another politician that has nothing more to do now so pick on the public that has done it legally to own a gun and help the criminals be the ones that should not have a gun,then they in up in the court system and jail so the county and State makes money.This is what happens when these politicians take office they have no idea how to do their job so they look for something to try and get passed to show that they are doing their job.Here in Richmond County there is alot of needs the people here need done but most are poor and Mr Goodman knows nothing about going with out or going hungry.So Mr Goodman go out and talk to all the people here and find out what you can really do in Raleigh instead of helping the criminals.

Here is a fact to chew on for the aforementioned out of touch liberal Goodman. In Israel and Switzerland, for example, a license to possess guns is available on demand to every law-abiding adult, and guns are easily obtainable in both nations. Both countries also allow widespread carrying of concealed firearms, and yet, admits Dr. Arthur Kellerman, one of the foremost medical advocates of gun control, Switzerland and Israel "have rates of homicide that are low despite rates of home firearm ownership that are at least as high as those in the United States." A comparison of crime rates within Europe reveals no correlation between access to guns and crime.

Do not let the facts get in the way of a good polictical tag line! More food stamps, less guns, higher taxes, more free cell phones! Sickening. Do everyone a favor and move to a european or south american country where they have your ideaology firmly in place. Stop ruining this Constitutional Free Republic!

Dear Mr.Lee--Thanks for speaking out for our constitution .Anyone who is against a concealed gun permit will also be against carrying an unconcealed weapon which our constitution allows any lawful American citizen to do.Regulations concerning concealed and unconcealed weapons are about the same .If I were in a situation that involved me or a member of my family facing certain death,then I would be grateful for a concealed gun in pocket.I once heard a lawman say that sometimes its better to be caught with a gun than without one.Of course if the man breaking down your door to harm your wife or child has a water gun or a real gun you would not want to shoot him .As the non gun group says,simply tell him you understand that he is from a family that never functioned as a normal family and nothing is his fault.Then you give him your gun to prove that you trust him .Now I am sure that our girl Rosie ,the liberal gal on Mr.T.V.would do exactly this.Yep,thats what she would do while her body guards held their weapons in his face.Mr.Goodman needs to open his eyes.I say take the bad guys gun and no innocent person will be shot.Guns do not kill,people using them do.If the American people do not believe this ,ask all the Indian chiefs in the next world.Just think,if the Indian nations had the guns and our forefathers had landed with bow and arrows,this land would still be the land of the free.Still shouting yah,yah,yah while dancing in a circle.Halleluyah,lets keep the guns and the permits,we will surely need them .

I agree with Mr. Lee that Rep. Goodman should use more facts when trying to argue a case. That said, Mr. Lee may want to clarify his words as well. From his letter, should I take it that his students, while not shooting the wrong person, have in fact shot the right person? I wonder who judges the right from the wrong person after the fact....
