Erial Norton, 8, daughter of Eric and Ryan Norton-Smith, has been chosen as a State Finalist in the National American Miss North Carolina Pageant to be held June 30, 2012, at the Marriott Winston-Salem. The pageant is held for girls ages 7 through 9.
The winner will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses, and air transportation to compete int he national pageant at Disneyland in California. Pageants are held for girls ages four to eighteen in five age groups.
The National American Miss pageants are for “Today’s Girl” and “Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The program is based on inner beauty as well as poise and presentation. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals.
Miss Norton’s activities include reading, swimming, riding her bike, softball, soccer and dancing. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Miss Norton’s sponsors include Cafe on Main, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Nebo Church, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and extended family and friends.
