Barbara Kimmer Bowler, 77, of Hamlet was called home to heaven on Friday, June 22, 2012. She was born on June 4, 1935 in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Edward David and Sally Martin Kimmer.

Barbara graduated from Spencer High School in 1953. She was a homemaker, excellent cook and loved her flowers. But the most rewarding to her was all the many children she cared for in her home over the years. Her and Bill’s home was a second home to many little ones coming up over the years. She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hamlet.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years William Calvin “Bill” Bowler on June 19, 2011, sisters Ruth Owens and Margaret Thomason.

A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. at Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlet with Rev. Russell Edwards and Cary Gardner officiating.

Barbara is survived by a son Bill Bowler, a daughter Sharon Caulder Gardner and one grandchild Eddie Caulder, Jr. One step great grandchild, Blaze Alexander.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet.

Memorials may be made to Richmond County Humane Society, 529 W. US Hwy. 74 Rockingham, NC 28379.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Edwin Morgan Center in Laurinburg and also Cary Garner, Nell Brown and Rev. Russell Edwards.
