The 47th annual Cinderella Ball was held Friday, May 18, 2012, at West Rockingham Elementary School.
The highlight of the event was the crowning of Miss Cinderella 2012, Miss Egypt D’Nashia Mannar.
Escorts for the ball were Houston Griffith, D’Nautica Everett, Chedre’ McDonald Jr., Justin Morman, Logan Deaver, Javier Staton and Jordan Lee McNeil.
The Cinderella Ball is sponsored each year by the Alpha Mu Chapter of Alpha Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. Young ladies are invited to participate in the ball.
The Cinderella participants entertained their family members and other guests with a variety of performances during the talent presentation.
Members of the Cinderella Ball said they were thankful for the Snead Grove A.M.E. Church Children’s Choir for blessing the guests with special entertainment.
Miss Cinderella 2011, Miss Janyla McKoy, escorted by Donavan Jaheim Steele, assisted with the crowning of the 2012 Queen, Miss Egypt Mannar.
Awards and gifts were presented to the Cinderellas and their escorts. They were encouraged to apply for the Alpha Mu Sorority Scholarship when they complete the requirements for high school graduation, if they aspired to higher education.
The scholarship is presented at the Richmond Senior High Academic Awards Program. In addition to scholarships, Alpha Mu Sorority contributes to various community, local, state and national projects.
The Cinderellas and their escorts participate in many activities to include, a Get Acquainted Tea, Charm School, Relay for Life, and many others. Family members are also invited to participate in these activities.
The Cinderellas, escorts, family members, and members of Alpha Mu Sorority enjoyed a day at Carowinds on Thursday, June 14, 2012.
