Suzanne Claire DeSha, 44, died unexpectedly in Ventura, California on June 12, 2012. She was born on April 2, 1968 in Jacksonville, FL and moved to Ventura County, CA in 1976, where she resided in Camarillo until moving to Ventura. She trained as a psychiatric technician at the Camarillo State Hospital and later joined the staff at Vista Del Mar Hospital in Ventura.

Suzanne was a gifted artist and singer, accomplished jewelry designer, crafter, and photographer of remote outdoor scenery. She had a passion for biking and hiking, and had hiked nearly every public trail in the southern half of California and western half of Arizona. She loved astronomy and was currently serving as treasurer of the Ventura County Astronomical Society.

Suzanne is survived by her mother, Frances DeSha Thomas and stepfather Edward Thomas of Rockingham; father, Larry DeSha and stepmother Marla DeSha of Camarillo, CA; sister, Diane DeSha Gilday and brother-in-law Dan Gilday of Simi Valley, CA; stepbrother, Mike Horn and sister-in-law Sally Horn of Fillmore, CA; stepsister, Heidi Glass and brother-in-law John Glass of Camarillo, CA; stepbrother, Eddie Thomas of Canton, GA; stepsister, Teresa Thomas of Rockingham; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jack and Elizabeth ‘Lib’ Covington; and paternal grandparents, Ernest DeSha and Grace and Neal Vann.

A memorial service was held in Camarillo, CA on Saturday, June 16th. The committal service will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 6:15 pm at Dockery Cemetery with a memorial service following at 6:45 pm at Cartledge Creek Baptist Church, 152 Ben Hudson Road, Rockingham.

Suzanne was a beautiful spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
