Tony “TJ” Eaves, a 2008 Richmond Senior High School graduate, has graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Carolina University on May 5, 2012, with a Bachelor’s of Science and Arts in Business Administration and Law, where he served as Student Body President for the 2011-12 school year and was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
He is the son of Tina Eaves of Hamlet and Tony Eaves Sr. of Cordova. TJ is also the grandson of the late Nettie Long Crudo of Rockingham and the late John Crudo Sr. of Hamlet and the grandson of Barbara Eaves and the late Robert Eaves of Cordova.
As Student Body President, he served as a member of WCU’s Board of Trustees and was asked to speak on behalf of all 220,000 students in the UNC system to the Board of Governors regarding tuition increase. He also delivered a speech to nearly 1,500 incoming freshmen at the 2011 convocation ceremony, spoke about leadership at a student leader banquet, delivered a State of the University Address, spoke at the Chancellor’s Inauguration and was the keynote speaker at a 9/11 Memorial service on campus.
He has served on many committees for Western Carolina University and is praised as being a tremendous advocate for students needs amongst WCU Administrators. He received the Student of the Year award for the 2011-12 school year for a student majoring in Business Administration and Law and was awarded Student of the Year from College of Business from 2011-12. TJ was nominated to serve as president for WCU’s Mortar Board Society. Eaves also made the Deans List every semester while attending Western Carolina.
Due to his positive impact on the students of Western Carolina and throughout the community, WCU’s Chancellor, Dr. David Belcher, has recently created teh TJ Eaves Endowed Scholarship Fund. Once the fund is fully endowed, the TJ Eaves Scholarship will be awarded yearly to a WCU student.

He has just committed to UNC Chapel Hill’s Law School and will begin in the fall of 2012.
