I am amazed at the number of people who wish the new President would fail. People who are making huge salaries, don’t have to worry about paying their mortgage, keeping the lights on, or putting food on the table want this President to fail as he attempts to get the economy back on track. All of those years they watched as the real wages of America’s middle class declined and our standard of living was reduced, now all of a sudden they have all the answers.
More of the same failure they created. They think the marketplace should create the solutions if they want to, but it is the government that has always created the marketplace. The Federal Reserve sets interest rates, the government agencies are huge consumers of manufactured goods, and they were suppose to watch over our interest to make sure the market place didn’t forget who we were, the American taxpayers and public. And the greed of the captains of industry are becoming more and more apparent.
We dumped trillions of dollars into Iraq with no oversight, no questions asked, and no accountability. Anyone who questioned that waste was called un-patriotic and anti-American. And the only people who profited were the war profiteers who are now being exposed for the excess and shoddy handling of our taxpayer dollars.
Let’s change the channel on these nay sayers. Let’s wish our new President God speed in his efforts to help all of those nameless faces out there who are suffering. And pray it doesn’t happen to us.

OMG, I think that every thing I have heard coming from Obama is just exactly what you want to happen. Go figure. And just a little reminder? The Democrats regained control of Congress in 2006. This problem started with the mistaken election of Ronald Reagan. Remember when you use to deduct your interest from your income tax? Even from your car? Or your expenditures for home improvements?
Kevin1, the cap is only temporary until they pay back the Bail-Out money they got from the taxpayers. That is only fair since they led the financial institutions into the mess. If you did something like that they would fire you, not give you a few hundred million to leave.
Reality, It should be called the Employer Imprisonment Act of 2009. If every company or business CEO/Owner that employed illegal aliens
was arrested and fined with the loss of their business for hiring illegals then there would be a mass exodus of illegals back across the borders. But as long as they can come into this country and make even a slave wage they are going to do it. Let's face it, the biggest problem the government now has is finding those people who are willing to go to work. Can you imagine some computer geek getting down on his knees to trowel concrete? Even if the concrete job paid even more than his computer job?
Bocephus, I don't know what your response has to do with the price of tea in China. One man can not change anything when it comes to this government.
We only wish that the money that he is doling out would go to the innocent who lost their investments instead of those whose neglect, corruptness and irresponsibility caused the problem. People are rewarded for achievements, not failures.
In addition, he allowed Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to head this up and instead of adopting plans to help the economy, they added all sorts of rediculous pork that had nothing to do with the economy. Republicans are now working on a more intelligent plan.
The stimulus package isn't going to FIX anything. The rest of the bailout money, that both Bush and Obama supported - mind you, should go towards WORKING PEOPLE. It should go towards people that need it.
It should not go for:
1) Business Execs and CEOs
2) People on Welfare
Why not business execs? Well, frankly, they don't need it. They're the ones that have caused much of the catastrophe.
Why not Welfare? Because they won't spend it on things to better themselves. More "designer" clothing and luxury items.
Both ends of the spectrum are the problem, and these problems keep being exacerbated. It doesn't seem to matter how much every political figure says that Middle America/ the Middle Class, is the backbone of the economy. We always take a backseat to one of the extremes.
Call your two senators and tell them to vote against the Ogden nomination. Ogden is no friend of the family.

As far as the oversight in IRAQ: Let's see, maybe you're referring to Joe Biden? Hillary Clinton? John Kerry? Or your favorite Murray, John Edwards? Are you so arrogant to believe that these people were so blind that they didn't know nor had anything to do with the progress that was made (or not made) in IRAQ. Or is it that the Republicans hid it from them?
If members of the Democratic Party are that easily fooled, then we are in some serious trouble.
As far as the stimulus idea, I'll tell you what I think. First, the Democrats have a big enough majority where they can pass any legislation that they want with opposition from the GOP not mattering much. The reason why you and other Democrats want everyone to go along with it, is that, if it fails, you can spread the blame around.
If it was a foolproof idea like Obama and his "do what I say" Democrats portray it to be, then who cares what the GOP has in opposition to it. If it works, and I said if, and the GOP doesn't jump on the bandwagon, then their days would probably be over as a major party. Isn't this what you want. It's on the table, go and get it if it's so easy. Just remember, don't bite the hand that feeds you Ron.
