Residents in the areas of Midway Road, Yates Street, and some side streets off of these roads are likely to experience water outages on Tuesday, June 12.
According to Terry Richardson, Water Maintenance Supervisor for the Richmond County Water Department, the department will be in the Midway Road area on Tuesday in order to replace a damaged fire hydrant. This work will require cutting the water off for most of the day. Streets affected will be Yates Street and most of Midway Road, south of Yates Hill Road. Services will not be turned off any earlier than 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Richardson said.
Residents are suggested to fill a bathtub in order to provide water during the time services are cut off. To avoid the possibility of a damaged hot water heater, residents are suggested to turn off the hot water heater circuit breaker in their electrical entrance until water services have been restored.
If the entrance panel uses fuses, simply remove the fuse.
In the event inclement weather prevents the work on the above date, the repair will be completed at another time.
