Dear Editor,
This is a letter of thanks to the residents of Richmond County.
Thank you for generously giving to the recent food drive sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service. Your gifts will be given to the needy of this county and on their behalf I praise your efforts.
Let me also point out to our community that we have a very special group of heroes in our area. They work very hard at their jobs as mail carriers, but they also commit extra effort to help our community. Every year these men and women selflessly commit time and effort for others locally.
They picked up approximately 20,000 lbs. of food this year, while still performing their duties.
Nationally we are seeing the postal service struggling to exist. Remember that this institution has served our nation for over 200 years and continues to serve above and beyond their job description.
Thank your local carriers and remember to use the local postal service, or be prepared to lose it. Thanks guys!
