In preparation for a Rick Gage Go Tell Crusade coming to Rockingham in September, the Beverly Hills Baptist Church of Rockingham is setting up a banquet/rally at the Rockingham Speedway’s garage for June 7, and they are expecting around 800 people.
“Andy Hillenburg (speedway owner) has been very generous with us,” said Go Tell Crusade Task Force Co-Chair Thad Ussery. “Seaboard Station will be catering and they have requested 10 tables to serve from.”
Ussery explained that the purpose of the banquet “is to get the churches involved, to get the pastors and laypeople to make a commitment, monetarily, physically and spiritually, for the crusade.”
The Go Tell Crusade, which will feature crusader Rick Gage, will be held Sept. 16-19 at the Richmond Senior High School’s Raider Stadium.
Tickets to the banquet are $12 each. Businesses, individuals, groups or churches can also purchase a table for $500. If they cannot commit, they can pass the tickets along to people who will.
There will be several guest speakers, and among them will be Rick Gage.
“The main thing is to get commitment,” said Ussery. “This is one last push to get tickets sold.”
People can also be involved in the crusade by participating on one of seven committees; phone, counseling, prayer, outreach, publicity, hospitality and arrangements committees.
“These committees will be very involved in the crusade,” said Mickey Biles, pastor of Beverly Hills Baptist Church. “They will be the nuts and bolts of it. It’s very important. Those who want to be on a committee will be trained.”
The one night of training will take place on June 18, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at First Methodist Church of Rockingham. In order to be on a committee, attend the banquet, said Ussery.
“This is a great opportunity for people who want to be involved in helping the young people of this county and surrounding counties,” said Biles. “The Rick Gage Crusade puts a lot of emphasis on youth outreach.”
A recent Rick Gage youth crusade event in Anderson, South Carolina, drew about 6,000 youth, according to Ussery and Biles.
Tickets that have been given out will need to be reported by Monday, when the final ticket numbers will need to be relayed to the caterer.
