Lavonne Kelly Benfield, 63, of Rockingham passed away on Friday May 25, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 25, 1949 to the late Frank Jackson and Elsie Haywood Kelly. She was a graduate of Rockingham High School, Richmond Community College, and St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
She was preceded in death by a brother F. Jack Kelly Jr.
She is survived by one daughter, Georgia Gillis Van Buren of Mebane, NC, and two sons, Kenneth Dale Gillis Jr. and wife Kelli of Rockingham, and George M. Benfield and wife Katja of Ellerbe, granddaughters, McKenzie Gillis, Skye Van Buren, and Starr Van Buren, grandsons, Josh Spencer, Brett Spencer, and Neriah Benfield, sisters Debra Kelly Goodwin, Glenda R. Kelly, Diane Kelly Wilson and Pat Kelly Bynum.
A Memorial service will be held Wednesday May 30, 2012 at 7:00pm at her home 119 Kellyville Dr. Rockingham NC.
