A Richmond County man has been arrested on a murder charge by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 21, Deshawn Lamer Morrison-Junious, 20, of Candor, was arrested in Richmond County at his mother’s home for the homicide of Jasmin Rorie, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office. Moore County lawmen were assisted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in making the arrest.

Morrison-Junious is in the Moore County Sheriff’s Detention Center and is being held with no bond. His first court date is set for June 7.

On May 20 at 3 a.m. the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a shooting at 248 McCoy Lane in the Eagle Springs area in Moore County. Before officers arrived the 911 center advised the Sheriff’s Office that the caller called back and stated that they were leaving with the victim and going to the hospital in a white Honda.

While the officers were responding to the location, one of the officers met a white Honda traveling at a high rate of speed toward FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle continued toward the hospital. Once at the hospital it was learned that the victim, Jasmin Rorie, 23, of Candor, had been shot and was deceased, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies secured the scene at 248 McCoy Lane. Investigators responded and during the investigation it was determined that there had been a party at the location and that the shooting had occurred during the party inside a single-wide mobile home. Several subjects were interviewed, lawmen said.
