The driver in a car which left the roadway on Steele Street, Rockingham, Saturday afternoon was injured and taken to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital for treatment. The car struck a utility pole causing a utility line to fall into the roadway and block traffic. Rockingham Fire and Rescue was called to assist FirstHealth Richmond-EMS in removing the driver. Rockingham police are investigating the accident.

Three people were injured in three separate motor vehicle accidents recently, the N.C. Highway Patrol said.
At 9:15 p.m. Jan. 13 on Old Charlotte Highway, Sonya Carol Patrick, 34, Great Falls, S.C., was injured when her car left the roadway on a curve, overcorrected, went off the opposite side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned, the patrol said.
She told a trooper she swerved to avoid hitting a deer.
She was taken to FHRMH for treatment.
She was cited for exceeding a safe speed. Her 1998 Pontiac received $5,000 damage.

At 8:15 p.m. Jan. 19 on Roberdel School Road, Rockingham, Carl Maurice Hacklay, Deweese Avenue, Rockingham, was injured when his car left the road, collided with a granite sign and a tree, the patrol said.
He was taken to FHRMH for treatment.
He was cited for failure to maintain a travel lane.
His 2004 Nissan received $4,000 damage.

At 6:08 p.m. Jan. 23 on Rogison and Church streets, Rockingham, Kenneth Ray Taylor, 53, Lady Mary Lane Apartments, was injured when struck by a car, the patrol said.
He was taken to FHRMH for treatment.
Taylor was directing traffic for a tractor trailer entering a business when the accident occurred at dusk, the patrol said.
The car was driven by Lillie Hinson Griffin of Lonnies Lane, Rockingham. Her 1994 Ford received $300 damage.
