Mr. Willis Filmore Covington, Sr., 78, of 1619 North Main Street, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009. Mr. Covington was born June 19, 1930, in Richmond County, to the late John Bill and Mary Elizabeth Covington Covington. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Willis Filmore Covington, Jr. and Lory of Yalaha, FL, and Timothy Alan Covington and Mary Grace of Rockingham; sister, Angeline Kwiatkowski of Wyandotte, MI; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom Covington and Sarah and Ernest Raymond Covington and Ruth all of Richmond County. In addition to his parents, Mr. Covington was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Covington. There will be no formal visitation and there will be a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suit 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
