A Laurinburg church is calling on Richmond County churches to team up for a crusade this month.
Multitudes Church of Laurinburg is hosting the Live on Location — or LOL — crusade at the Rockingham Winn Dixie parking lot on May 18, starting at 7 p.m.
“It has to get dusky and dark for the screens to show up,” said Multitudes Church’s Pastor Opie Swails, who is bringing a stage with screens, a roof, lights and costumed actors.
“We’re going to share God’s message in song, drama and dialogue,” said Swails. “We’d like to try to invite as many churches as possible to help promote the event. They can set up a booth with resources to help them connect with people.”
The pastor said the event will reflect the kinds of services held at his church, where the stage is well used. According to him, the church has a theater setting itself. He has done this type of event at seven different locations in Scotland County, and wants to begin the shows in Richmond County this year.
Swails said the event is free and includes free food.
“It’s all free, and bring a lawn chair,” he said. “It’s for the whole community.”
“It’s an outreach ministry our church performs outside the same as in church,” said Pastor’s Council member Charlie Pittman, who lives in Laurinburg. “We are showing Jesus Christ to the public and we are hopeful that it will bring some to the fold. I’m proud to be a part of it.”
He calls the church “a heartfelt community” and said, “It is our hope other churches get involved. We are looking for other churches to unite with us on this mission.”
The pre-show begins at 7 p.m. and the service begins at 8 p.m. Multitudes Church is located at 15301 Jim Calhoun Road, Laurinburg. For questions call 910-276-9920 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit the website www.multitudeschurch.com, where you can watch videos of other LOL events.
