Richard McDonald Sr., 75, of 118 Pine St., Ellerbe, died April 21, 2012, at Sandhills Medical Center in Hamlet.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Church of God, 391 McIntyre Road, Ellerbe, with Senior Bishop Sylvester Pharr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A public viewing will be held on Friday from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. at McLendon Funeral Home.
Mr. McDonald was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Richmond County, son of the late Jesse J. and Eunice McDonald. He was employed as a mechanic at L.G. DeWitt Trucking Co.
Survivors are his wife, Nelda McDonald of the home; six sons, Richard McDonald Jr. of Rochester, N.Y., William McDonald of Las Vegas, Nev., Jerry McDonald of Rockingham, Eddie McDonald of Baltimore, Md., Kevin McDonald of High Point and Ricardo McDonald of Ellerbe; seven daughters, Jeant Tillman of Rockingham, Barbara Moton of Ellerbe, Sandra Bettis of Rockingham, Coretta Patton of Durham, Taisha Little of Mt. Gilead, Esther McDonald of Ellerbe and Eunice McDonald of the home; five sisters, Virginia Little, Edna Crouch, Annette Caviness and Gloria McDougald, all of Ellerbe, and Tayna Ingram of Rockingham; three brothers, Otis McDonald and Perry McDonald, both of Ellerbe, and Carl McDonald of Aberdeen; 36 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
