Donald Ray Denney, 83, of 501 Love Lane, Rockingham, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at First Health Reid Heart Center in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, in the First United Methodist Church in Rockingham with Rev. Mike Sykes and Rev. Allison Farrah officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond Memorial Park with Masonic Rites and military honors.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Don was born Jan. 15, 1929, a son of the late Russell and Anna Lawson Denney. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rockingham and retired from Sara Lee Hosiery as Quality Control Manager. Don was a member and past Master of the Rockingham Masonic Lodge. He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Denney.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Hart Denney of the home; three daughters, Deborah Taylor of Columbia, S.C., Gwen Webb of Rockingham and Terri Kennedy of Kernersville; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Denney of Hamilton, Ohio.
