PAGELAND — Emma Jean Laney Melton, 58, died April 22, 2012, at her home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., April 25, at Twin Pines Free Will Baptist Church in Jefferson, with burial following in the High Point Baptist Church Cemetery, Pageland. The family will hold visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. April 24, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield.

Mrs. Melton was born Feb. 13, 1954, in Monroe, N.C., a daughter of Bernice McClain Laney Oliver and the late Hazel “Pete” Laney. She was a graduate of Pageland High School and was owner of Melton Manufacturing and Just Big Sportswear. She was a faithful member of Twin Pines Free Will Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for more than 30 years. Melton enjoyed sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Rev. Johnny Mack Melton of the home; one son, Chad (Amanda) Melton of Jefferson; one daughter, Sharon (Donald) Thompson of Pageland; three grandchildren, Emily Thompson and Johnathan and Drake Melton; mother, Bernice Laney Oliver of Pageland; one brother, Frankie Laney of Jefferson; one sister, Brenda Cassidy of Cassatt, S.C.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield is serving the Melton Family.
