Assaults keep lawmen busy

Local law enforcement has been dealing with numerous assault calls for the past several days.

In Rockingham, a senior citizen clerk tried to stop a suspect from allegedly stealing a $20 hair weave from a store on East Broad Avenue, and an altercation broke out between the two.

The victim received a small cut under her chin. The suspect got into a vehicle and drove away with the stolen item.

Bobby Gene Lisenby, 70, Aslington Street, Rockingham, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of communicating threats and assault by pointing a gun. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.

William Christopher McNeil, 37, Crestway Drive, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of assault on a female.

Police were called to a residence on Scaleybark Road, Rockingham, where there was an incident involving an assault on a female and communicating threats.

Deputies at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office were busy with:

n A boyfriend allegedly slapped his girlfriend at a house on Pecan Road, Cordova.

n At a business on Mill Road, Rockingham, a victim was allegedly cut with a knife by a suspect.

n On Dunn Street, Ellerbe, a suspect allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face and pulled her hair.

n On Jones Avenue, Rockingham, a woman was allegedly was hit by her boyfriend with his fist.

Other incidents investigated by Rockingham police include:

n A 12-year-old boy was arrested on multiple charges after being stopped by a officer for traveling down East Washington Street, Rockingham, at a high rate of speed in a vehicle.

His case was referred to juvenile authorities.

n At one business on Biltmore Drive, Rockingham, someone did $100 damage to the facility and stole $18 and beer of undetermined value.

n At another business on Biltmore Drive, someone did $100 damage to a window and stole $201.60 worth of property.

n Someone used the credit card number of a victim to purchase $330.68 worth of clothing at a store at Richmond Plaza Shopping Center, Rockingham.

n At an institution on Wall Street, Rockingham, $80 was stolen from a pocketbook.

n Andrew Jackson Leake, 57, Pee Dee Drive, Rockingham, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure. Bond was set at $5,000.

n Tiffany Ranell Youngblood, 19, Birdie Lane, Hamlet, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of driving while license revoked and having an open container of alcohol. Bond was set at $1,000.

n Paul Casey Bailey Jr., 19, Hartsville, S.C., was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court of charges of possession of marijuana, speeding and reckless driving.

n A bicycle valued at $120 was stolen from a yard on Short Street, Rockingham.

n On Shannon Drive, someone stole 47 pills of medication valued at $80.

n Corey Stephen Ross, 38, Aberdeen, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving while license revoked. Bond was set at $ 500.

Incidents reported to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office include:

n At a house on Seaboard Street, Hoffman, someone did $89 damage to property and stole $572 worth of property.

n The door of a house on N.C. 177 North, Hamlet, was broken causing $400 damage.

n A vehicle tire at a house on Terry Trail, Hamlet, was cut causing $50.

n At a house on Poole Road, Rockingham, someone broke into a house and stole $575 worth of property.

n Window screens at a house on Ratliff Drive, Rockingham, were cut causing $150 damage.

n Doors on a vehicle parked on Fairway Drive, Rockingham, were scratched causing $1,500 damage.

n A vehicle parked at a residence on Mill Road, Rockingham, was scratched causing $300 damage.

n A house on Sandhills Game Management Road, Ellerbe, was broken into causing $200 damage to a door, and medications valued at $180 and a shotgun valued at $300 were stolen.

n In woods off McDonald Church Road, Rockingham, someone stole a $200 deer feeder and $200 deer stand.

n On Daniels Street, Dobbins Heights, someone did $200 damage to doors of a house.
