She was born June 21, 1952, in Randolph County, daughter of Sevenous Eugene Laws and Janie Murleen Claudson Laws Taylor. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Kirkley was preceded in death by a son, Tim Kirkley, and a granddaughter, Nicky Smith.
Survivors are her husband, Herbert Kirkley of Hamlet; mother, Janie Murleen Taylor of Boone; daughters, Christy Dixon of Hamlet, Erica Kirkley of Hamlet and Terri Phifer of Rockingham; sons, Scottie Kirkley of Laurinburg and Mike Kirkley of Hamlet; brother, Billy Williams of Boone; sisters, Margaret Butler of Boone, Cathy Covington of Statesville, and Trusia Parker of Hamlet; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Church of God of Prophecy in Hamlet at 5 p.m. with Rev. Steve Crews officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. US 1 Hwy., Rockingham, NC 28379.
The family is at the home of her daughter Christy Dixon, 513 Entwistle Street, Hamlet, NC 28345.
