S.C. men arrested for stealing from merchant

Two South Carolina men were arrested by Rockingham police on charges of stealing from a local merchant.

James Arthur Goins Jr., 42; and Robert Earl Goins, 40, both of McColl, S. C., were each charged with misdemeanor larceny.

Bond for each man was set at $500.

Other incidents reported to Rockingham police include:

n Someone stole $300 worth of DVDs from a house on Pineridge Drive, Rockingham.

n At a house on Everett Street, Rockingham, a suspect assaulted a man and stole a vehicle valued at $3,500.

Police are looking for the suspect. The suspect was allegedly drunk at the time and assaulted the suspect to take his vehicle keys.

n Someone broke into a business on East Broad Avenue, Rockingham, doing $150 damage to a window.

n Gasoline valued at $22 was stolen from a store on East Broad Avenue, Rockingham.

Incidents reported to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office include:

n Someone cut a cable holding items in a yard on Morgan Circle, Hamlet, and stole $650 worth of vehicle tire rims and four used tires valued at $150.

n Deputies are investigating an incident in which someone shot into an apartment on 2nd Street, Ellerbe.
