The Sandhills Regional Library System (SRLS) recently celebrated 50 years of service, and the retirement of Virginia Russell Gee, of Rockingham, who served as book keeper and administrative assistant to the director of libraries. Gee was with SRLS for 37 years.

“We had a wonderful time at the event,” said Regional Director Carol Walters.

The celebration was held March 3 at the Boyd Library on the campus of Sandhills Community College, in Pinehurst.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with the library system and seeing the growth take place over the years,” said Gee.

SRLS has grown into a five county library system, that includes Richmond, Moore, Montgomery, Anson and Hoke counties.

“We could never be such a strong library system without the board members, as well as the support we receive from local and state politicians,” said Walters.
