Dear Editor,
I write this with great hopes of a new beginning in our great County.
Before the ruckus raised over the rescue squad being taken away from us, we could go to the county commissioners meetings and have our voices heard.
Of course this put some of the members in the hot seat with questions they simply didn’t want to address. They quickly came up with a new policy of submitting your questions in writing and if we decide to allow you to come and speak, we reserve the right not to answer.
This is a no brainer, the commission is voted in by the people, to represent we the people. We the people would like to ask the commissioners to re-think their stance on this, and if they cannot take the heat of the citizens of Richmond county asking questions, then it is time they might want to look towards retirement.
We have had enough inside politics in this county to last us a lifetime. New candidates are running for election, we have tried the good old boy approach to government here long enough. We should look hard at the new people running and with informed minds, then approach the voting booth.
We all fell into hope and change in 2008, well let’s hope in Richmond county, there will be change. We can’t change direction without changing those in charge of the steering wheel.
