Three motor vehicle accidents were blamed as being causing by weather-related conditions, the N. C. Highway Patrol said.
At 5:37 a.m. Jan. 19, on U.S. 74 east of Hamlet, two people were injured slightly when their vehicle ran off the road after entering an iced roadway, the patrol said. The vehicle went down an embankment into a wooded area.
Two Charlotte men were attended to by Hamlet Fire and Rescue personnel at the scene.
The vehicle received $1,200 damage.

At 6:05 a.m. Jan. 20 on Page Street, Ellerbe, a truck on Grassy Island Road went off a snow-covered roadway and collided with a utility pole, the patrol said.
The vehicle received $1,200 damage; the utility pole, $1,000.

At 8:49 a.m. Jan. 20 on the U.S. 220 Bypass, Ellerbe, a truck went off the snow-covered roadway, spun around and collided with the median cable barrier, the patrol said.
The truck received $2,000 damage; the cable, $500.

Five people were injured in three recent motor vehicle accidents.
Three people were injured at 4:25 p.m. Jan. 13 on Ghio Road when the car in which they were riding ran off the roadway on a curve and overturned, the patrol said.
Jessica Marie Harris, 17, Clayton Carriker Road, Ellerbe; Matthew Logan Rollins, 18, Champ Terry Road, Hamlet; and Quinton Andrew Swinney, 26, Maner Road, Rockingham, were all taken to FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Harris was cited for exceeding a safe speed. The 1993 Honda she was driving received $1,700 damage.

Chad Allen Reier, 19, McDonald Avenue, Hamlet, was injured when he told a trooper he went off the roadway to allow traffic to pass the moped he was riding, the patrol said.
He was taken to Sandhills Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Reier was cited for a lane control violation. His 2007 moped received $100 damage.

Johnnie Allen Mauldin, 60, Boyd Lake Road, Hamlet, was injured when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, the patrol said.
He was taken to SRMC for treatment.
Mauldin was cited for an improper lane change. His 1988 Chevrolet received $1,500 damage; the utility pole, $200.
