Mr. Tommy Allen, 64, of Hamlet, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast in Concord.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at First Baptist Church in Hamlet with Rev. Randy Bishop officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet and other times at his mother’s home, 1102 Oak Ave., Rockingham.

Mr. Allen was born Oct. 9, 1947, in Portsmouth, Va., a son of Margaret Williams Allen Taylor and the late Harley Thomas Allen Sr. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from CSX Transportation, where he was a supervisor.

Surviving are two sons, Harley Thomas Allen, III of St. Louis, Mo., and Samuel E. Allen of Hamlet; his mother, Margaret Williams Allen Taylor and husband Gilbert of Rockingham; fiancé, Brenda Furmage of Red Springs; a brother, Glenn Allen of Rockingham; and a sister, Theresa Morales of Fayetteville.
