Lucy Capel Rush, 94, of Ellerbe, N.C., died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Sneed Grove AME Zion Church, Ellerbe, with Rev. Henry Lockett, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McLendon Funeral Home in Ellerbe. Family will receive friends at other times at the home.
Rush was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Ellerbe, a daughter of the late William Capel and the late Maranda Robinson Capel. She was a member of Sneed Grove AME Zion Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ras Rush Sr.
She is survived by three sons, James William Rush of Akron, Ohio, Ras Rush Jr., of Ellerbe, Robert Rush of Akron; four daughters, Geneva Jones of Akron, Sallie M. Cooper of Akron, Sadie M. Terry of Ellerbe, Shirlene Ledbetter of Ellerbe; two sisters, Sarah McLean and Nonnie Capel, both of Ellerbe; 27 grand children; 44 great grand children; and three great-great grand children.
McLendon Funeral Home of Ellerbe is serving the family.
