Wanita Elizabeth Barry Chavis, 87, of Rockingham, died Friday, Feb. 17, at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Colonial Chapel, with Steven Millen officiating. Interment will follow at Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday at Carter Funeral Home, 705 S. Caroline Street, Rockingham, from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the home.
She was born is Pinebluff, N.C., on Jan. 9, 1925 a daughter of the late Harry and Grace Eldridge Barry. She was a member of Cobb Memorial Baptist Church. She was owner and operator of Rockingham Handbags Mfg. Company.
She is survived by her son, Charles R. Chavis of Hamlet, daughters Myra Lea Singletary and Gloria Gaddy both of Rockingham, step-sons Bobby Chavis of Rockingham and Lester Chavis of Dillon. S.C., five grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren.
