At the monthly Hamlet City Council meeting Tuesday, Legal Aid of North Carolina announced that the organization will be offering free tax preparation services for lower income individuals at the Hamlet Senior Center.

“Dates will vary, so we are asking people to call 919-542-0475 or toll free 866-219-5262 to make an appointment,” said Hannah Burgwyn, a representative at the Pittsboro office.

Also at the meeting:

Pete Wheeler and Terry Mercer thanked council for providing the Hamlet Senior Center with a van. The van will be used to transport groups during the upcoming senior games.

“The senior games kick-off registration will be held at the Hamlet Senior Center on Feb 27,” said Hamlet Senior Center Director Susan Sellers. “The games will be April 16-May 3, 2012.”

Council announced that the last day to pay and be removed from the delinquent tax list, which will be advertised, is Friday, March 9, 2012. The delinquent tax listing will be advertised March 14, 2012.
