Lauren Denise Cobler of Rockingham and Jacob Lee VunCannon of Ellerbe were united in marriage on Dec. 10, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Rockingham. Reverend Robbie Stewart officiated the 5:30 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Larry and Phyllis Cobler of Rockingham. She is the granddaughter of Dixie Cobler and Richard and Norma Watson. Lauren is a 3rd grade teacher at Mineral Springs School in Ellerbe.
The groom is the son of Jeff and Jill VunCannon of Ellerbe. He is the grandson of Ethel Allen and Ed and Mary VunCannon, all of Ellerbe. Jacob is employed with his family’s business, E.E. VunCannon’s.
Lauren was given away by her parents during the wedding ceremony. She wore a fit and flare gown with a one-shoulder neckline and corset closure. The soft shimmer satin asymmetrically hugged the torso and flared at the knee. The embellished shoulder strap was woven through the bodice and crossed the shoulder in a glamorous fashion. Lauren carried bridal flowers featuring different shades of white roses with greenery and coffee berries.
The bride chose Mallory Cobler of Rockingham as her maid of honor. Mallory wore a camel color strapless floor-length gown. Other bridesmaids included Shannon McGee, Bobbie Martin, Jessica VunCannon, Maxine McInnis, Abby Allen, and honorary bridesmaids Heather Jordan and Chanel Rainwater.
The groom chose Jeff VunCannon as his best man. Mark Allen Jr., Luke VunCannon, Bob Perkins, Joel McDonald and Jacob McDonald served as ushers. Honorary groomsmen were Mark Allen Sr. and Patrick Chappell.
Organist Jody Honeycutt and soloist Chuck Wright also participated in the ceremony.
A reception was held at Fellowship Baptist Church in Ellerbe. The couple traveled to Pigeon Forge, T.N., for their wedding trip and now reside in Ellerbe
