Sandhills Regional Medical Center hosted a dinner for renal transplant patients on Nov. 10 in the hospital cafeteria. Shown standing is Alice Bailey, who was among the guests who spoke of their kidney transplant experiences and gave accolades to Dr. Luiz Nascimento for their new lease on life. Nascimento said he has always wanted to rally these patients together so they could have a support system, and this dinner was a start.

Nascimento specializes in internal medicine and nephrology, and is the medical director for Sandhills Regional Medical Center’s in-house dialysis unit, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
