Rockingham Housing Authority welcomes executive director

The Rockingham Housing Authority Board of Commissioners recently named Chereka Belton-Odom as the new executive director for the Rockingham Housing Authority.

Belton-Odom began her public housing career 10 years ago as a Capital Fund Contract Administrator before being promoted to the Capital Funds Sr. Contract Administrator position with the Columbia Housing Authority. After joining the Housing Authority of the City of High Point as its Capital Funds Coordinator she was promoted to Director of Capital Funds and Quality Control.

Belton-Odom has worked for the Rockingham Housing Authority for almost two years holding the position as the director of Facility Programs and Operations/Interim Executive Director.

Throughout her housing career, she has administered large, as well as several small modernization projects. She has successfully designed and administered new construction projects and has assisted with planning of future construction projects. Furthermore, she assisted in the development of departmental bidding procedures and documents, procedure manuals, operation budgets and performance reports.

She possesses a bachelor of science degree in Architectural Engineering and a Waste Management Certificate from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She holds several certificates in the housing industry including but not limited to Public Housing Management and Housing Choice Voucher Management.
