The session will open each evening at 7 p.m. Highlights of the event include a workshop on churches working in the communities by Dr. Osco Gardin Jr., pastor of Elizabeth Baptist Church, Monroe, Healthy Eating and Wellness workshop presented by Cary Rodgers, a field coordinator with the National Council of Churches and Blue Cross Blue Shield grant programs. There will also be a workshop on Baptist Beliefs done by Rev. D.K. Ferguson, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Wilmington.
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, Rockingham, will present Handel’s Messiah 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22. The choir is a combination of First United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham, along with friends of the community. The director will be Paul Chandley and organist will be Sophia Chandley. The Baroque-style oratorio is one Handel’s most famous works. Written in 1741 it contains the beloved Hallelujah chorus.
