Mrs. Ruth Elder Hodges Jenkins, 83, of Rockingham, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011 in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.



Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 16, in the Mt. Moriah Free Will Baptist Church in Hamlet with Rev. Jonathan Jenkins and Pastor Zeb Jones officiating. Internment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.



A lifelong resident of Richmond County, Mrs. Jenkins was born on Nov. 5, 1927 to the late Henry and Stella Hodges. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Moriah Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack 'Johnny' Jenkins earlier this year, a brother, Bertis 'Bo' Hodges, and two sisters, Myrtle Sheppard and Hattie Baker.



She is survived by a brother, Cecil Hodges of Hamlet, and nieces and nephews.



Memorials may be made to Gideons International, South Camp, in Hamlet.



The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
