A nation divided

Dear Editor,

I am concerned about where we’re at as a nation. We are divided on every level: politically, culturally, morally, spiritually, economically.

What got me thinking is my wife and I went to buy a new refrigerator this week. We told the salesperson at each place that our old one had lasted 17 years and each salesperson immediately replied that you won’t get one today that will last five years. What a sad comment on our “American Superiority”: that the genius of America or should I say the greed of America would throw away technology that could build a machine that would 15 - 20 years and replace it with a machine that would only last approximately five years. This is what the very people who sell them say. This is what you call “growing the company”. At what price are we “growing the company”? It seems to me we’ve sold out on a lot of levels. Sure, we can tweet. Birds do too. We can text. All this without ever speaking to each other. What happened to having a real conversation?

Oh yeah, in the midst of all this we have forgotten our creator. He is the very one who made us and gave us our minds and hearts. Have we misused them and forgotten him and his most important place in the scheme of things? He is the one we need to communicate with most. No, we can’t tweet him or text him. We must talk to him. Think of these things.
